Oprah Winfrey’s Gift for Baby Sussex Is One for the Books (Literally)
Remember the personalized bookcase that Oprah Winfrey got for Mindy Kaling’s daughter, Katherine? Well, it appears Baby Sussex is next in line.
In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, the 65-year-old media mogul revealed that she already picked out a baby gift for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first child. When pressed for details, Winfrey hinted that it will highly resemble the hand-carved castle-shaped bookcase she gave to little Katherine last year.
“I have a standard gift that I do for people that I really care about,” she said. “So, I don’t know the baby’s name or the baby’s gender, but this baby will have enough books to last a lifetime.”
We can only assume it’s similar to the present she gave to Kaling’s daughter, which included a bookcase filled with more than a hundred children’s literature classics, each personalized with a “Katherine’s Book Club” label. NBD.
Winfrey’s relationship with the soon-to-be parents should come as no surprise. Not only did she attend the couple’s royal wedding, but she’s also partnering with Prince Harry to develop an all-new mental health series.
Back in October 2018, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they’re expecting their first child. Although they haven’t revealed any details about a gender or name, Markle is expected to give birth any day now. Many believe she’ll welcome the child at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey County, which is a 30-minute drive away from the couple’s new home at Frogmore Cottage in Berkshire, England.
Oprah as a gift-giving auntie? Luckiest. Baby. Ever.
