THIS Is The Only Correct Way To Drink Beer, According To Beauty And The Beast's Luke Evans
Luke Evans' velvety smooth voice is in my ear: Sit upright, but not uptight. Relax your body. Feel the support of the seat beneath you. Turn your attention inwards. Now, open the bottle. Remove the cap with your bottle opener, and pick up your chalice.
...Wait, what? A meditation about how to drink a beer is pretty much the last thing anyone would expect, but it's also kind of genius. And when it's presented in a British accent, it's hard not to drink the Kool-Aid. Or Stella Artois, as it happens to be.
Luke, the Beauty and the Beast and The Hobbit star, worked with Stella Artois to create STELLASPACE, an audio guide that's supposed to heighten the experience of drinking a beer and help you be in the moment ... a.k.a., not glued to your phone.
"You get completely into it," Evans told Delish. " It allows you to think about what you’re doing and all the things that become so easy to forget when the phone is ringing and you’re catching a plane and everything. It gives you 20 minutes to think about what you’re doing."

In the 20-minute guide, available now on mindfulness app Inscape (there's also a preview up on YouTube), Luke talks through the history of the Stella brand and the importance of slowing down and "savoring life's simple pleasures," while also sharing anecdotes from his own life. It's not your typical guided meditation, but it does give practical advice about pouring a beer, clearing your mind, breathing regularly, etc., all shared in Evans' very soothing voice. "I think people will find it very interesting; it stops you in your tracks," Luke says.
It also teaches you how to properly sip a beer - no chugging allowed. According to Master Cicerone Max Bakker, who works with Stella, a chalice of Stella is best consumed in 12 sips. To help you follow along and get the ideal experience, Stella made specially-marked glasses advising your sip size. Keeping in line with the mindful drinking theme, there are notes like "sip slowly" and "sip and know that you are sipping" written on the cup.
For the South Wales-born actor, drinking a beer is a familiar and nostalgic activity. "Pub culture is a big deal in Britain," he says. "I have a garden in London and I love to have friends and family over and kick back and enjoy each others company on a summer day."
As for his favorite way to drink a Stella, the brand's take on an Aperol Spritz - the Cidre Twist Spritz - is his current favorite. To make it, mix a Stella Artois Cidre with 1.5 ounces of Aperol, .5 ounce Grand Mariner, and 1 oz grapefruit juice. Now you can drink like Luke, and feel like you're drinking with him too.
