One of Fixer Upper’s Most Memorable (and Massive!) Homes Is Available to Rent
There’s no shortage of homes touched by the golden hands of Chip and Joanna Gaines in Waco, Texas. Though houses rehabilitated by the super-couple pop up on the market with relative frequency, few privately-owned Fixer Upper landmarks are available to rent—outside of the Gaines’ two uber-popular vacation properties, that is.
So, you can imagine our excitement when House Beautiful shared that one of our favorite Fixer Upper homes is currently taking reservations on Vrbo. That’s right, the swoon-worthy Gorman House from episode two of season one of the HGTV series can be yours. Well, sort of.
It was a while ago now, but you might remember that Charmaine Hooper and Chuck Codd purchased the unlivable, shell of a home from the city of Waco for just $24,008. Before Chip and Jo worked their magic, the abandoned 1927 house had no running water, dangerous wiring, and dirt-covered floors. But boy was there potential in its tall ceilings, French doors, and wrap-around porches. Today, the 3,000-square-foot home looks brand new.
With five bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms, the enormous home can easily sleep up to 14 people at a time. (Family getaway, anyone?) Additionally, the Gorman House is located just five minutes from downtown Waco, and seven minutes from both Baylor University and Magnolia Market.
