OKCPS Foundation kicks off 2024 Coat-a-Kid campaign
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – The Oklahoma City Public Schools Foundation is preparing for winter with its 2024 Coat-a-Kid campaign.
Despite rising temperatures, the OKCPS Foundation is kicking off the program that provides new coats to OKCPS students in need, making sure they’re protected during the winter.

“A new warm winter coat can make a world of difference in the life of a student,” said Mary Mélon-Tully, OKCPS Foundation President and CEO. “It empowers attendance, offers them the confidence to succeed in school and lets them know that the community cares for them.”
According to the OKCPS Foundation, 92% of OKCPS’ 33,000 students live at or below the poverty line. Families may be unable to afford items like winter coats, so the OKCPS Foundation accepts year-round donations and fundraises during the summer.
“We thank our hundreds of loyal supporters who step up to donate to the Coat-a-Kid program every year, and we want to encourage everyone in the community to participate in this year’s Coat-a-Kid fundraiser. Any donation is appreciated and will help us provide thousands of OKCPS children with much-needed physical and emotional warmth,” Mélon-Tully added.

Established in 2016, the campaign has been able to give a coat to every OKCPS student in need with help from the community.
