From Cosmopolitan

  • Duchess Kate Middleton got some new blonde highlights for fall and debuted the look during a royal engagement on Wednesday.

  • Kate typically has chestnut-brown hair but has been slowly lightening her color over the past few months.

There’s some very important (uh, depending on your definition of “important”) royal news to process this morning over your coffee high tea. Kate Middleton appears to have gotten blonde highlights for fall.

The duchess stepped out for a royal engagement at the Natural History Museum yesterday, pairing a distinctly autumnal outfit (the burgundy top! the green pants! the matching shoes and purse!) with distinctly lighter hair. While it’s a reach to say Kate’s currently blonde—the color is way more nuanced than that!—she most certainly has honey highlights, giving her a much more sun-kissed look than what we’re used to.

Kate’s hair change comes ahead of her royal tour of Pakistan, and it seems like she’s been building up to this color for a few months. Here she is on September 26 with slightly darker hair:

FYI, there’s some debate on royal fan accounts as to whether this blonder vibe is just a result of the sun hitting the highlights she already has or if she’s actually been slowly coloring her hair, so go ahead and look at this pic:
