The money-saving trick that brings new life into my wardrobe is 26% off.
A few years ago I was the skinniest I’ve ever been — abnormally (and relatively) skinny for me, honestly. It was the result of some intense grief, and during that period of weight loss, I bought new, momentarily better-fitting clothes. Most of that clothing no longer fits now that I have returned to my regular weight. I was stressed by the idea that I would have to get rid of it all when I discovered these now-$10 Button Extenders.
The button extenders are dummy-proof; you really don’t need instructions to use them — but I’ll explain for the sake of thoroughness. You hook the loop side on the preexisting button of your skirt, pants, dress, etc, and weave the new button through the hole. You’ll get 1-1.4 inches of additional length.
Ceryvop’s usually $13, now-$10 kit comes with 12 pieces in three colors (beige, navy blue, and black), and four different button sizes. Although it’s advertised as being for pants, I’ve mainly used it on skirts (that have an underlining or with a slip of my own) and shorts. It’s made a lot of my old clothes fit again — and provided two other unexpected benefits. First: I have one or two in my purse at any given time for occasions when I’ve eaten more than is humanly recommended (usually at my grandmother’s house) and my bloat makes me feel like my buttons are going to pop open. The second is that it opens up possibilities when it comes to thrift and vintage shopping. I am no longer heartbroken by perfect items that almost fit.
I’ve bought these Ceryvop Button Extenders for my sisters, too. They are petite and closer to my late mother’s size but were still unable to button her vintage leather Fiorucci pants or ‘80s Moschino jeans. But thanks to this $10 hack, they can wear these iconic pieces.
One of the five-star shoppers wrote, “I was looking for a way to make my trousers more comfortable without having to replace my wardrobe. These little devices are perfect.”
Head to Amazon to shop the Ceryvop Button Extenders while they’re just $10 (26 percent off). And if you need to do the opposite — make clothes that are too large fit better — there are these editor-approved $5 Taoqiao waist-reducing buttons.
