I Was Not Ready for Stanley Tucci to Destroy Me with a Cocktail Tutorial
Footage of actor Stanley Tucci making a Negroni cocktail went viral on social media.
Fans drooled over the unexpectedly steamy video, making the Devil Wears Prada star a trending topic on Twitter.
I wasn't planning to spend my evening being personally targeted by a video of Stanley Tucci mixing a cocktail in his kitchen, but we are indeed in unprecedented times.
The Spotlight and Devil Wears Prada star shared a tutorial on Instagram on Monday, during which he makes a Negroni, clad in all black and his signature round-frame glasses. Throughout the evening, the footage spread on Twitter, leading many viewers to come to the same conclusion: Damn, Stanley Tucci is a fox.
While many of us are socially distancing, sheltering in place, or quarantining, it may be easy to write off the rush of Internet thirst as a by-product of cabin fever and isolation. But, dear reader, please turn your attention to his visible biceps in said video. His rudely tight shirt. The mere ease with which Tucci teases his wife by sipping the drink he intended for her. Did you blush when he smiled to the camera? Were you not overcome with a slight rush by the way he handled his barware? Yeah, this shit is real.
Sorry to bubble-burst, but, yes, Tucci was crafting the cocktail for his wife, Felicity Blunt, British literary agent and actress Emily Blunt's sister, whom he married in 2012. But that only means good things: a) He knows how to treat his spouse, and b) the video is recorded at the perfect POV angle for you to imagine that the actor is actually speaking to you.
"And there we are. That's that," he says at the end of the short production, raising the glass with James Bond levels of suave.
As for the recipe? Mix a handful of ice, two shots of gin (you can use vodka if you like), one shot of sweet vermouth, and one shot of Campari in a shaker. Strain the contents into a coupe glass, or serve on the rocks, if you prefer. Take an orange slice, squeeze a bit of the juice into the drink, and then drop the whole piece of fruit into the mixture. Voila! (Disclosure: marriage to Stanley Tucci not included.)
As the clip flew through Twitter, even Chris Evans, who costarred with Tucci in Captain America: The First Avenger, chimed in to reminisce over how the actor would make martinis for the cast.
I. Love. Stanley. Tucci.
On some(most) days after we finished filming on the first Captain America movie, Stanley would make us martinis in his trailer.
He’s an absolute gem. However cool, fun, witty, and charming you think he is, double it and you’re halfway there. https://t.co/mEJzuV8oAH— Chris Evans (@ChrisEvans) April 21, 2020
But that, of course, was just one of many great responses to Tucci's post.
everybody – literally every single adult human in the world – would fuck stanley tucci and if they say otherwise they're lying https://t.co/sPpzUjBD5T

An Ode to Stanley Tucci's Forearms
When Stanley's cooking dinner
his sleeves get in the way.
But when he rolls them up
it makes us feel some kind of way.
It's not just that they're hairy,
or muscular, or tan.
It's all these things and more
that give us no choice but to stan. pic.twitter.com/tm0uIDx1aF— Philip Ellis (@Philip_Ellis) April 21, 2020
Lol saw someone trying to be like "he's not making the cocktail correctly"
Sir, Stanley Tucci could serve me wine and tell me it's butter and I would gladly obey his instruction. https://t.co/8Nlerhfzz4— Rachael Krishna (@RachaelKrishna) April 21, 2020

Stanley Tucci is such a fancy person. Like that video going around seems so fancy for just being at home. Like he’s wearing a whole belt indoors! A belt!

Imagine you’re in quarantine with Stanley Tucci and he’s making you a Negroni while being the last man in the world to wear real pants AND a belt AND a watch all at the SAME TIME. The sophistication. This adult. pic.twitter.com/LFVxWsdrTE

Lots of surprisingly delightful fodder has taken over the Internet since the start of the social distancing era, like "Can I Pet That Dog?," Tiger King, and Ina Garten's generous glass of morning booze. But none can quite compare to the unintentional masterpiece that is Stanley Tucci Making a Negroni in His Kitchen.
