Whether you’ve been hosting Zoom meetings or happy hours, the quarantine has probably turned you into a pro at being on camera. The first tip you learned? Unless you choose to get up, no one has to see what pants you’re wearing — so you can re-wear the same pair of leggings for a week straight without anyone knowing. Your top, however, has to change from meeting to meeting. It’s the one thing everyone can see, and if your friends, extended family — or worse yet, coworkers — spot you in the same grisly old sweatshirt you’ve worn for three weeks straight, they might have to stage an online intervention.
In fact, Walmart’s EVP of corporate affairs Dan Bartlett told Yahoo Finance that because of the surge in Zoom meetings and FaceTime get-togethers, tops have been top of mind for consumers.
“We’re seeing increased sales in tops, but not bottoms. So, people who are concerned, obviously, from the waist up,” Bartlett said. “These behaviors are going to continue to change and evolve as people get accustomed to this new lifestyle, if you will. And we’re able to accommodate that, both online and in our stores.”
