'Stranger Things' star Noah Schnapp says 'Running Up that Hill' would be on his ideal dinner party playlist: 'I think it's my favorite song'
Because food connects us all, Yahoo Life is serving up a heaping plateful of table talk with people who are passionate about what's on their menu in Deglazed, a series about food.
Since exploding onto the scene in 2016 as Will Byers in the ultra-popular Netflix show, Stranger Things, Noah Schnapp has been a household name. The ’80s-themed thriller show is set to return on July 1 for the second part of its fourth season, and fans are on the edge of their couches waiting to see what's going to happen to their favorite ragtag group of friends.
And just like the most recent season of Stranger Things, food and all things tasty play a huge part in the 17-year-old actor's life. One of his favorite things to eat? Pizza.
But what kind of pizza would Schnapp want delivered from the Surfer Boy Pizza van? While his go-to order is a classic cheese pie, he's also a fan of heating things up. "If I'm feeling a little spicy, I like a buffalo chicken pizza," he says. "I think it's so good."
Off-screen, Scnhapp's guilty pleasure is snacking on applesauce pouches from craft service table. "I also love goldfish and of course my tbh (vegan hazelnut spread)," he adds. "I love crunchy and I love a mix of salt and sweet. So like, for tbh — [I'd dip] something salty in it, like a cracker or something."
Schnapp's vegan hazelnut spread, tbh, led to his partnership with cupcake brand Sprinkles: Together they're releasing an exclusive limited-time cupcake flavor starring the "better for you" version of a snack food classic. The tbh Chocolate Hazelnut Cupcakes are only available on July 1 and 2 and will be sold in all Sprinkles bakeries nationwide. "It's a dark chocolate cake and then in the middle is just like oozing tbh," he says of the sweet treat. "Then [there is] cream cheese frosting on top. I tried it and it is so good."
Though Schnapp doesn't follow a vegan diet himself, he wanted tbh to be able to be enjoyed by everyone. "I love that my hazelnut spread is vegan because I get so much feedback from people that say that they're looking for a spread that's good and also vegan," he says.
Schnapp's love of salty-sweet snack combos would also come into play in his ideal TV binge-watching party with friends. His table of goodies would include chips and salsa and a fun popcorn mix. "Obviously popcorn, and I think something sweet," he says, "maybe like M&Ms to put with the popcorn. Honestly, popcorn and a show for me, and I'm set."
While he's been acting for several years, Scnhapp sometimes still gets anxious. What calms his heightened nerves is a comforting before-bed snack. "Toast with peanut butter and tbh," he says. "I always have that before bed."
If he's looking for a taste of home, Schnapp tries to channel a childhood favorite: his mom's pasta. "I love just like a good pasta," he says. "A nice pasta with red sauce is just perfect."
Schnapp says he's not a picky eater and will eat anything, but there are two things he absolutely will not touch. "Anchovies and canned tuna," he says. "I think that's it. I'm pretty open to eating most things.
So what's on this ’80s-inspired actor's dinner party playlist? "I think 'Running Up that Hill' has to be mentioned," says Schnapp. "I think it's my favorite song as well. And 'The NeverEnding Story' always will be a Stranger Things classic."
