No Justice, No Peace: Protesters Flood U.S. Cities Seeking Justice for George Floyd
Since George Floyd was killed by a police officer named Derek Chauvin on Monday, more than 30 cities across the U.S. have held their own protests. In the days following Floyd's death in Minneapolis, protesters took to the streets in the city in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. As ELLE.com pointed out earlier this week, Minneapolis protesters have come up against officers using tear gas and bullets. When white protesters demonstrated against COVID-19 restrictions weeks ago, they received no such backlash.
The looting that has resulted from some of these protests prompted this tweet from President Trump, which read, in part, "when the looting starts, the shooting starts" and received a public notice from Twitter.
In Louisville, residents protested the death of Breonna Taylor, the 26-year-old EMT was shot and killed in her own Kentucky apartment by police after what is now being referred to as a "botched" search warrant execution on March 13. On Thursday evening, seven people were shot at the Louisville protest. All shooting victims are "stable and recovering," Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer said at a press conference Friday.
Below are tweets from people at some of the protests around the nation and from those organizing and sharing their thoughts about these efforts for justice. Many contain videos from these protests.

Milwaukee is one of the most segregated cities in America. but the news may not cover the fact that everyone came together peacefully to protest today. as for you all being inconvenienced by the I-43 shutdown, imagine the inconvenience of being murdered because of your skin color
