No, Gwen Stefani Isn't Leaving 'The Voice' for Any Dramatic Reason
Gwen Stefani is not coming back to The Voice next season.
Here's the reason she isn't returning for another round of the NBC show.
The Voice coaches are getting a shake up once again!
The NBC show announced in October that Nick Jonas will be joining for season 18, which will air in 2020. Unfortunately, that means another celeb has to vacate their red chair. In this case, it’s Gwen Stefani, who's currently serving as Adam Levine’s replacement in season 17.
Considering she gets to hang out with her boyfriend Blake Shelton, it may come as a shock that she only signed on for the fall. After all, Blake, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend have all stayed for more than one run. So why, exactly, did Gwen decide to leave?
According to Entertainment Tonight, it’s nothing more dramatic than The Voice wanting to continue its process of rotating coaches. This allows for their big stars like Gwen to continue “maintaining their music careers,” which in Gwen’s case means returning to Las Vegas. Her Just a Girl residency ends in May 2020.
That said, Gwen has left and come back to The Voice before, so there’s no reason that she wouldn’t return at some point in the future. Plus, her and Blake get around great as co-workers, so relationship troubles certainly aren’t a concern for the pair.
But knowing that her time is limited, we’re willing to bet she gets even more involved in this years’ competition. Her strategy has certainly been interesting so far, and we’ll see if that can take her to the finale. Watch out, Blake!
