Nikki Bella "Doesn't Need a Pity Husband"
Nikki Bella was the one who broke off her engagement to John Cena after a six-year relationship, and a source told People it was because she "didn't need a pity husband."
“He was making it abundantly clear that he was going into this gritting his teeth the whole way,” the source said. “Nikki is an amazing, talented, strong, one-of-a-kind woman. Anyone would be lucky to have her in their life - yet John acted more and more like he was doing her a favor by somehow conceding to go ahead and marry her."

The couple, who was supposed to get married in a destination wedding in Mexico on May 5, announced their split Sunday in a statement put out by Nikki on social media. They got engaged nearly a year ago when John proposed on live TV during WrestleMania. “[Nikki] doesn’t need a pity proposal, a pity wedding, a pity husband. She’s a phenomenal, tremendous woman,” the source said.
John, 40, and Nikki, 34, disagreed about whether or not they should have kids, and this was documented on Nikki's reality shows Total Divas and Total Bellas. “They have had an on and off relationship for years. It’s no secret that they didn’t see eye to eye on a lot of things, but, when you’re in love, you turn a blind eye. And that’s what Nikki did,” the source said.

In 2013, cameras captured a conversation between Nikki and John where she said she wanted kids and he told her he couldn't give her that. A few years later, Nikki started telling people she didn't want kids. The source added, “When Nikki changed her stance about wanting kids, everyone knew that wasn’t her. You can’t take motherhood away from a woman.”
