Niecy Nash Has Had Her Acceptance Speech Hanging on Her Fridge for Years
"Keep your eyes on the prize" might just be one of Niecy Nash's go-to mottos. Or, at least, we assume as much after learning that she's been prepared for her Emmy nom for many, many years now. In a red carpet interview with Giuliana Rancic and E! News, Nash revealed that she actually wrote her award acceptance speech years ago. For which award? Any of them. More than that, she hung it on her refrigerator for all to see.
We know that sharing your goals with others is a good way to hold yourself accountable (shout-out to our gym buddies for being basically the only reason we still use our membership), but writing your acceptance speech years in advance is a pretty bold move. One that just might pay off.
Nash is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for her role in When They See Us, Ava DuVernay's depiction of the real stories of the Central Park Five. And although her category is chock-full of incredible women like Amy Adams, Patricia Arquette, Joey King, Michelle Williams and even Nash's co-star Aunjanue Ellis, we have a good feeling her prep work might have been worth it. Only time will tell...
