Nicole Kidman Finally Explains That Awkward Emmys Kiss with Alexander Skarsgard

Remember when Nicole Kidman kissed her Big Little Lies costar Alexander Skarsgard awkwardly on the lips in front of her husband, Keith Urban, and the 11.4 million viewers watching the 2017 Emmy Awards? Welp, she has finally cleared the air.

The Beguiled star visited The Graham Norton Show last night and became noticeably flustered when the host pulled up a photo of the uncomfortable liplock seen ’round the world.

Kidman saw right through Norton and called him out, saying, “You are so provocative, Graham. Why are you showing that?”

The tongue-in-cheek host replied, “It’s a lovely moment of celebration, Nicole.” And Kidman quipped back, “I kissed my husband, too.”

The more the Emmy Award-winning actress tried to explain, the more awkward her reasoning translated. First, she offered, “You gotta understand, I did everything with Alex.”

When she realized the implications of her statement, she tried again: “I’ve got an amazing, supportive, gorgeous husband, who I love more than anything in the world, and I gave Alex a congratulatory kiss and he’s like a mannequin.”

With a last-ditch effort, Kidman said, “I mean, not a mannequin!”
