Netflix turns 25, Prize Fest finalists and more in Shreveport entertainment headlines
It's the beginning of September, Shreveport and that Fall weather is so close, we can almost feel it. Despite the remains of summer heat, Starbucks has officially rolled out their annual pumpkin spice latte and the city is filled with all sorts of entertainment news and events.
From saying goodbye to one beloved downtown chef and welcoming another to celebrating a popular streaming service's birthday and finally finding out all of the Prize Fest finalists, here's what you may have missed in entertainment this week.
Food Finds
Last week the highly-anticipated Pepito XO @artspace had a soft opening, welcoming the community to the newest downtown Shreveport spot. This week we talked to Pepito himself about this new venture and what his hopes are for this partnership with artspace.
In other, more sad, food-related news - the beloved Chef Tootie Morrison officially left Abby Singer's Bistro after a decade in the kitchen above RFC.
Happy Birthday, Netflix!
It's hard to believe it's been 25 years since the major streaming platform was formed. In its early years, subscribers received DVDs in the mail instead of spending hours on the couch binge-watching content created by the platform itself. To celebrate, here's a list of all of the films shot in Shreveport that are currently available to stream on Netflix.
Speaking of Netflix, there's a new limited series that hit the popular streaming service last week based on Shreveport native Bill Joyce's 2016 novel "Ollie's Odyssey."
And lastly, if you've got a teen interested in getting involved in the film industry, the Robinson Film Center has a great program they can sign up for and registration is officially open!

The highly anticipated event of the year Prize Fest is just around the corner and for the last couple of weeks, the Prize Foundation has been announcing the finalists in the various categories. There's one Prize category that doesn't take place at Prize Fest in October and that's the Startup Prize! This special category puts the spotlight on entrepreneurs working to make the healthcare industry better. Check out the two winners for 2022 announced last weekend.
