Netflix Names ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’ the Most Binged Show in a 24-Hour Period
Congratulations, Gilmore Girls fans! Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life is officially the most binge raced show in the world.
What does “binge race” mean, you ask? Binge race is a Netflix-coined term for finishing the entire season of a show within 24 hours of its release. And recent studies show the Gilmore Girls revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, has the most binge racers globally, with Fuller House coming in second.
According to Brian Wright, Netflix’s vice president of original series, “There’s a unique satisfaction that comes from being the first to finish a story—whether it’s the final page of a book or the last, climactic moments of your favorite TV show. Netflix allows you to watch in a way you never could before, and there’s nothing better than seeing a show engage our members and ignite a passion for viewing.”
But that’s not all. The streaming service even broke it down by country to give us insight into the streaming preferences for different regions. While Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life is the most binge raced show in the U.S., Fuller House landed the top spot in Ecuador, Marvel’s The Defenders in Korea and Trailer Park Boys in Canada.
This may be the first time we’re hearing the term, but we gladly accept the challenge.
