Netflix Just Made a Big Announcement about the Future of 'Virgin River'
It's official – another season of Virgin River is coming! As of today, the cast is all back together as filming for season six begins.
After an eventful season five, there's a lot to unpack and even more possible exciting story lines for the new season. Virgin River writers have been hard at work since October, but now the season is one step closer to being on our TV screens again! "It's official! Virgin River season 6 is back in production!," the series' Instagram announcement featuring a photo of Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) reads.
Unsurprisingly, fans were overjoyed to hear the news. "Yay!! So excited for you guys!! BEST SHOW EVER IS BACK IN PRODUCTION!!!” and "Best news of the day ????. So happy to see Mel&Jack back on set ???. Can’t wait to see more glimpses of S6 through BTS, and hope the cast and crew have a blast filming!," fans commented. Plenty of commenters also gushed over Mel's short hair (we're obsessed).
As for what to expect from season six, there's not much news yet. However, we do know that Mel and Jack will be returning along with Doc, Hope, Preacher, Brady, Brie, Lizzie, Dr. Cameron, Mike, Denny and Kaia, according to show runner Patrick Sean Smith.
Many fans were upset with the negative storylines and how the story played out last season, particularly for Mel and Jack (we're just glad Charmaine finally had her babies!). Thankfully, this season it's looking up for our favorite on-screen couple. "Mel and Jack will advance on their path to parenthood while also turning Lilly's farm into their ultimate dream home," Smith told Tudum.
No release date is confirmed just yet, but we can't wait to see what's in store this season!
