NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i fans, it’s time to come up with new Monday night plans — at least, for the foreseeable future.
Since their premieres in mid-September, NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i have been airing new episodes back-to-back for a total of nine weeks. During that time, the hit CBS dramas have taken two joint breaks. Now with the holiday season in full swing, it’s time for another one.
On December 6, NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i both aired their fall finale episodes. In the latest installment of NCIS season 19, fans got to learn a little more about Special Agent Jessica Knight (Katrina Law). While she didn’t exactly open up about her complicated relationship with her mother, Torres' (Wilmer Valderrama) words seem to have made a difference. Meanwhile, NCIS: Hawai’i paid tribute to the 80th anniversary of Pearl Harbor. Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) got to the bottom of a cold case involving a World War II hero who may or may not have stolen someone’s identity.

All of that brings us to the present. While there has been no official word from NCIS or NCIS: Hawai’i about the shows going on a winter hiatus, many outlets are reporting that this is the case.
When are NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i coming back?
NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i will return to CBS with new episodes on Monday, January 3 at 9 p.m. ET and 10 p.m. ET, respectively. Again, there have been no formal announcements made, but the four-week hiatus is likely a holiday break for Christmas and New Year’s.
Most recently, TVLine seemed to confirm that NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i won’t be back until early 2022 when a fan named Maria asked the outlet’s column Matt’s Inside Line if “either of the NCIS shows [are] going to air Christmas episodes this year.” Unfortunately, it wasn’t the news Maria and the rest of the NCIS fanbase wanted to hear. “All I have for you is coal — neither NCIS nor NCIS: LA will serve up holiday outings this season,” Matt wrote for TVLine. “Hawai’i isn’t doing a holiday episode either.”
So, there you have it: No new episodes of NCIS or NCIS: Hawai’i until the new year. Until then, we’ll be on the lookout for promo videos to see what’s to come for our favorite characters.
