This Multicultural Wedding Celebration Will Sweep You Off Your Feet

Sometime weddings have a singular theme, but when you and your intended want to include a little bit of everything — including your cultures — we say go for it. And that’s exactly what Zai Divecha and Phil Reyneri set out to do for their nuptials. Divecha, an artist and sculptor in San Francisco, and Reyneri, a technological innovator who combines sculpture, video and light for a visual experience, made sure their wedding weekend was inspired by their shared love for nature, heritage, and design. With the help of Shelter Co., the couple chose the Redgate Ranch in San Gregorio, CA and filled this breathtaking wedding venue for a glamping-style celebration for more than 100 guests.

Their wedding guests enjoyed the modern luxuries of a 5-star resort in complete privacy, including a mobile sauna, yoga and hiking, farm-to-table feasts, and more. (Shelter Co. built all the amenities from the ground up: Everything from the kitchen to restrooms to power as well as accommodations for guests in European-style canvas tents were brought in to help friends and family celebrate in style.)

The day before their wedding, the couple gathered with their closest loved ones for a mehndi gathering. Alapi Bhatt of Henna Creation applied intricate designs to Divecha’s hands and arms. For her wedding-day attire, the bride wore a sari by Sabayaschi that she found in Mumbai to pay homage to her Indian roots.

They incorporated motifs from Hindu weddings but customized their own ceremony, and had a close friend marry them.

The couple opted for shades of white, taupe, and berry rather than traditional bold hues of red, and the pair exchanged hand-woven eucalyptus garlands rather than the customary orange marigolds. The ceremony and reception were kept tastefully minimal, letting the beauty of the vast terrain speak for itself.

Instead of traditional bridal party outfits, the couple encouraged their guests to wear whatever they felt their most festive selves in. (Many borrowed Indian pieces from the couple and family!) Guests were invited inside a tall sailcloth tent for the celebration, where the design was soulful and simple and included bespoke textiles from local makers inspired by traditional Indian batik print patterns with exotic plant centerpieces.

The catered meal by Componere Fine Catering featured a fresh medley of Indian-inspired vegan and gluten-free dishes using seasonal ingredients.

With a Bollywood dance performance to kick off an all-night musical festival, this unique couple filled their entire celebration with lots of colorful and personal details.
