Girl power girl band Fifth Harmony won the Artist to Watch award last year at the MTV VMAs, and true to their award, this year at the show they’re making a splash. The 2012 X Factor USA winners showed off their individual styles and personalities on the VMAs red carpet again tonight. You may have spotted them in the Clean & Clear commercials, talking about beauty and confidence, and their double platinum song, “Worth It,” is all about telling young girls that they can do anything they can set their sights on. The band itself is a testament to big dreams, hard work, and great skin.
18-year-old Camila Cabello pulled her hair back in a loose chignon and rocked bold brows, while Dinah-Jane Hansen kept her highlighted hair down in gorgeous waves with a smoky eye. Ally Brooke’s pale pink lips contrasted with her dramatic eye makeup, keeping her hair low-maintenance and slick straight. Normani Hamilton smoldered for the cameras with her signature pixie crop, pale lips, and shimmering lips. Veering away from the pale lip gloss, Lauren Jauregui paired her wet hair look with dark vampy lips and matching burgundy nails. All five members of the band wore Red Carpet Manicure Nail Lacquer. “Dinah and Lauren chose fall-perfect hues (burgundy and jet black) to match their dark ensembles, while the others opted to keep a summery vibe in a refreshing pops of hot pink, white and neutrals,” said Emi Kudo, the manicurist.
In the September 2015 issue of Teen Vogue, the singers spoke out about high-pressure beauty standards. “Growing up, I used to want to be the girl in the magazine, with a perfect face or body, and I’ve come to realize true beauty is what’s within,” Hansen told the magazine. “It’s the girl that’s happy with her own reflection.”
