What Are Angel Number Tattoos?
Unlike other sets of numbers, angel numbers are unique because they are believed to hold spiritual significance for those who encounter them. “The term ‘angel numbers’ is used for repeating single, double and longer sequences of numbers that show up around us,” Wilder explains. “Angel number tattoos are simple numeric tattoos like 11:11, 222, 10101010, etc. We call them angel numbers because they signify that you’re being helped or guided from on high.”
Siegel adds that angel number tattoos have been around for centuries. “Their true meaning goes back thousands of years to early civilization and was thought of as a part of divine intelligence,” he shares. “Many people then and now connect to various numbers on a deep level and therefore want to remind themselves of their influence by having them tattooed on their bodies.”

7 Things To Consider Before Getting an Angel Number Tattoo
1. Understand Their Significance
When getting an angel number tattoo, it’s important to remember that they aren’t fashion statements. “Ask yourself what would you most like to embody or connect to with your number tattoo and then do the research to match your intention,” Siegel advises. “It’s important to understand that numbers are a part of an ancient system of symbols and have important meaning, which is why you should research the numbers you are attracted to so you can familiarize yourself with their influence.”
2. Consult With a Numerologist
If you love the look and meanings behind angel number tattoos but aren’t 100 percent sure which one suits you best, it’s never a bad idea to talk it over with a numerologist. “Consulting with a numerologist for the meaning behind the numbers and how they interact with your personal numbers would always be my advice,” Wilder says. “That way, you will never question if there would be a better option.”

3. Make Sure You’re Ready for the Commitment
Just like any other tattoo, angel number tattoos are permanent. Because of that, you don’t want to get one just to get one. Instead, you need to make sure it’s something you’re completely sure of. “If you take it seriously and cautiously, you will be far less likely to regret your tattoo down the line,” Siegel says.
Wilder agrees, adding, “Always sit with a decision like this for a while. As with any tattoo, your taste might evolve over time, so not just going with a generic design or doing it as a spur-of-the-moment thing is best.”
4. Think About Why You Want One
Before getting inked, ask yourself why you want an angel number tattoo instead of another style of tattoo. Wilder says that’s important to do because people usually get an angel number tattoo when they feel a connection with a certain number—not because they think it’s pretty or a trendy thing to do.
“People often get angel tattoos when they have seen a number show up everywhere for years,” she says. “It could be because they always notice the time at 11:11 or 22:22, or maybe it's an angel number that correlates with a loved one's birthday, or a number that shows up in their family. Numbers hold energy and significance and just as people get quotes, animals, people or other symbols tattooed on their skin, getting an angel number tattoo is a way of making that energy part of them.”

5. See if Your Energy Lines Up
“You want to make sure you are not identifying with intentions that may not be in alignment with your greater good,” Siegel states. “It’s all about the right balance and intention, so, for example, having a sequence of 5 can bring about freedom and adventure, but you have to ask yourself if you’re running away from life’s challenges.”
6. Research Tattoo Artists
There’s no doubt that there are tons of amazing tattoo artists. However, that doesn’t mean that they are all known for doing angel number tattoos. That’s why Wilder says you should look around to see which ones have experience with that type of tattoo. “You can do all the research online and follow any artist whose work you like,” she suggests.
7. Ask for a Sign
If you’re familiar with angel numbers and feel like you have a connection with a couple of numbers, but you only want to get one tattooed, don’t feel overwhelmed. Wilder says once you decide that you want to get an angel number tattoo, a good way to decide on the one you want is to look for signs and even ask your guides for help.
“See if a certain sequence pops up again, and ask for a sign from your guides as seeing the number you want tattooed would be the best sign,” she shares. “If you're torn between multiple numbers, this could help you find the right one.”
Most Common Angel Number Tattoos To Get
When it comes to angel number tattoos, which ones are the most popular? According to Siegel and Wilder, there are a handful. “000, 1111, 222, 444, and 777 are the ones I've consulted on or seen the most,” Wilder says.
Siegel agrees that those numbers seem to connect the most with people. “I’d say 11:11 is the single most common number sequence people see and connect to,” he shares. “I think it’s because it’s a powerful symbol of awakening out of tunnel vision to a more aware state of being. It represents that you are shifting out of old patterns and embracing a more integrated you.”
Most Popular Designs To Add to Angel Number Tattoos
Angel number tattoos are deeply personal, but if you want to add another design element to it, there’s nothing wrong with that. “As long as the elements are positive, there are no limits to what you can add,” Wilder reveals. “The question is always if it feels like a good addition, or if it takes away from the numbers. It all comes down to personal taste.”
She tells us that some popular additions are wings, feathers, flowers, names and places. “You could even add to the energy of the numbers you choose by repeating an object in the same number of elements. For example, having the angel number 111 and three roses.”
Most Common Angel Number Tattoo Placement
Just like other tattoos, angel number tattoos can be placed anywhere on your body. Ultimately, it’s up to whoever is getting it to decide where they want it to go. “If a person wants to spread a message, or share their symbology with others, then they might want to put their tattoo on a visible part of their body, like their arm or shoulder,” Siegel says. “However, if you want to keep it private (as there may be a personal story behind [it]), many choose to get that number inked close to their heart.”
