Monaco's Prince Albert and Princess Charlene Share an Easter Message—and Sweet Photos of Their Kids
With countries around the world adhering to strict social distancing guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic, it's proven impossible for royals to do their normal work: visiting charities, attending celebrations, opening new facilities, bestowing awards, and the like. Still, they've found ways to stay connected with the public.
On Sunday, that's just what Prince Albert and Princess Charlene of Monaco did, opting to share an Easter video message on Instagram. The clip has the couple seated in an outdoor, Easter-themed setup, with bales of hay, plush bunnies, and bright-colored flowers. Albert speaks—first in French, then in English—as Charlene holds the family's chihuahuas.
"In these difficult and troubled times, we simply wanted to wish you all, on behalf of our family and ourselves, a very Happy Easter," he says.

Charlene shared the video on her Instagram account. It pairs well with her post from the day before, which shows her and Albert's five-year-old twins, Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques, planting flowers in the garden. "Sending healing and love to the world, we miss you, see you soon. Happy Easter," Charlene wrote in a comment.

Monaco's royals have something extra to celebrate this year: Albert's recent recovery from COVID-19. The Prince was lucky to have a relatively mild case, and was able to self-isolate at home for 14 days before reuniting with his family at the beginning of April. Like so many others forced to quarantine, he stayed in touch with his wife and kids, who were staying at Roc Agel, their country estate, via video chat.
"We FaceTimed — usually in the evenings," Albert told People earlier this month. "We told stories and talked about what we did during the day. I told [the twins] to be safe. They knew I was sick and that I had to stay away."
