Moments You Missed From "Trading Spaces"
After 10 years, everyone's favorite home makeover show is back. Trading Spaces was one of the leaders in home reality television back in 2000 and, if the first episode of the reboot is any indication, the cast has still got it. But that doesn't mean the show hasn't gotten a fresh coat of paint, err, a new set of rules this season. Here's everything you might have missed from the premiere episode.
The opener looks the same, but it is actually quite different.
Instead of the muted shades used in the past, the new palette pops off the screen to draw the viewer in. It also does some funky reconfiguration in the beginning.
Here's what an old graphic used to look like:
There's a Paige Cam.
Specifically designed for those behind-the-scenes moments when the designers aren't around, but the neighbors are freaking out. The iconic host is famous for being a shoulder to cry on, so it only makes sense that she'd be privy to these dramatic moments.
The carpenters are actually assigned to teams.
This is completely different from the originally show. Usually, it was Ty Pennington or Carter Oosterhouse running back and forth to help both homeowners and designers, but this time they are assigned to just one group. Carter helped Doug, while Ty was assigned to Hildi.
This was filmed in either late September or early October.
Hildi's egg creation was for sure out of this world, but it was also very telling! If you look closely, you can see the date on the egg cartons, which is October 17. Whether it was the expiration date or the date they were packaged, it gives us a clue that this was filmed in the fall.
There was a lot of kissing.
It looks like the cast has gotten quite friendly with each other over the years! Almost immediately after the homeowners met their designers, we saw Hildi grab Ty and give him a kiss as he walks in to reveal he is her carpenter.
Then, at the end, Paige plants one on Doug.
His reaction was priceless.
Well folks, there you have it. Stay tuned for another episode of Trading Spaces.
