Mom Catches Her Pup Using Cuddle Sesh as Excuse to Get Closer to Human Sibling’s Lunch
Sure dogs are sweet, they're loving, and they'll basically be your shadow. But when it comes to food, dogs can be sort of sneaky. They'll do pretty much anything to eat — especially if it's something they're not supposed to eat. Like a Basset Hound named Homer who was definitely using his cuddling sesh with his human sibling to get a shot at their lunch plate.
Homer's mama knew exactly what he was doing in the hilarious clip she shared online.
The dog mama was recording Homer and her kids when she noticed he seemed a bit distracted. The kids were of course watching TV blissfully unaware of Homer's real intentions. They had him locked in in a cuddle. But the video shows Homer's eyes looking lovingly over at the plate resting on the sofa's arm.

"You'd think he's trying to snuggle by the looks of it," the video's onscreen caption reads. "But he's really just trying to get near that plate of food," she joked.
Sadly for Homer, he didn't get what his heart desired. There's always next time little guy.
People in the comments section couldn't stop laughing. "I love how smart pets actually are and how no one realizes it," one commenter wrote. "He’s like 'oh would you look at that I didn’t even realize that was there hmm,'" someone else joked. "There is a plan in motion.....it's very slow motion but it's in motion," a third commenter kidded. "We call that manipulative snuggling in our house," one woman shared.
Basset Hounds' Personalities
For the most part, Basset Hounds are easygoing and friendly dogs. Bassets are people oriented and get along well with children. They're also fairly smart, but stubborn. Meaning they need a strong, patient, hand when it comes to training.
Basset Hounds definitely like to bark so be forewarned if you live in an apartment. They also love to dig, so they'll have sturdy feet and strong nails. It shouldn't be a surprise that Bassets have a strong hunting urge. You need to keep a sharp eye out for them or else they'll go hunting on their own.
Another area where Bassets have a mind of their own? Food. Given total freedom Bassets don't really stop eating. This can cause them to gain weight or become overweight. Especially because they don't really need a ton of exercise to stay fit. All they need is one long walk per day and their totally good to go.
Let's just hope that Homer's owner took him for a walk later that day. Something tells us that he wasn't giving up on that plate of food anytime soon.
