Miranda Lambert's daring cabinets have space-enhancing qualities that designers love
Miranda Lambert's Tennessee home is a quintessential celebration of country chic – complete with a wooden-hued living room and a horse barn across 75 acres of woodland hills. Though, it is not all traditional.
In her kitchen, the singer interrupted her home's primarily neutral color scheme by introducing daring pockets of mint on her kitchen cabinets and statement refrigerator – an unexpected move that hasn't gone unnoticed by designers. But what makes this color sought-after among those in the know?
'Mint green, also known as a powder or light green, possesses a distinct allure that sets it apart from traditional cabinet colors. This refreshing shade brings a touch of nature indoors, infusing spaces with tranquility and serenity,' says New York-based design expert Elizabeth Grace.

While Miranda's space isn't exactly what we would call a 'small kitchen,' Elizabeth explains that this hue is perfect for more compact homes due to its size-enhancing qualities.
And, when it comes to accentuating a small room further, we should follow the singer's lead and pair these mint hues with similar white walls (and mirrors to take it further still).
'If your kitchen lacks abundant natural light, mint green cabinets can work wonders in brightening the space. Their light-reflective properties create an illusion of increased luminosity, making the area feel more open and spacious,' Elizabeth explains. 'Complemented by crisp white walls and strategically placed mirrors – these cabinets will infuse your kitchen with a breath of fresh air.'

As Elizabeth mentions, mint green cabinets work particularly well against classic neutral tones – just as Miranda demonstrates.
In the singer's case, the off-white walls and dark wooden features are a nod to the estate's overall timeless aesthetic. However, it is hard to go wrong with these hues in any style of home – especially when pairing with mint green kitchen cabinets that 'beautifully juxtapose neutral color palettes, and add depth' to the overall design.
'Against a backdrop of creamy whites, subtle grays, or warm beiges, these cabinets serve as a focal point, exuding a sense of refined charm,' Elizabeth says. 'Consider incorporating natural textures like marble or wood [like Miranda] to create a harmonious balance between contemporary and organic elements.'
And Mike Serafino, the owner and designer at Heartwood Kitchens in Massachusetts, similarly recommends following suit – adding that, alongside its size-enhancing qualities, green invites nature's healing qualities inside.
'When we make decisions on the design of a home, we consider the windows and surroundings,' he says.
Whether you have a view of the outdoors or not, seamlessly blending the interior with natural surroundings makes for a special living space. When the sun and foliage are in full bloom, it generally makes us feel happy. Why wouldn't we want our homes to have the same effect?'
