Miranda Lambert Posted a Passionate Message Standing Up for 'Iconic' Carrie Underwood
Miranda Lambert is as ready as we are for the 2019 CMA Awards!
She recently penned a heartfelt Instagram caption all about this year's Entertainer of the Year.
Carrie Underwood has her vote—and then some.
The 53rd Country Music Association Awards are just around the corner, and you know we're already excited. The performances, the outfits, the controversy. What's not to love?
But now, thanks to Miranda Lambert, we've got one more reason to look forward to the upcoming show—and no, it has nothing to do with Blake Shelton. Instead, Miranda's making headlines for a passionate display of kindness, support, and friendship.
The 35-year-old country music singer took to Instagram to share a 198-word caption about friend and "Somethin' Bad" duet partner Carrie Underwood, accompanied by a few sweet photos.
A post shared by Miranda Lambert (@mirandalambert) on Oct 7, 2019 at 8:25pm PDT
"It’s fall weather in Nashville!" she started the post. "Sitting here on my porch, I realize with the chill in the air that it’s getting closer to Nov which means my birthday month and @CMAawards final voting time. Entertainer of The Year is the big one so I’m gonna share my two cents."
Miranda then offered congratulatory remarks for every nominee—including Keith Urban, Eric Church, Garth Brooks, and Chris Stapleton. She called Keith a "friend and a hero," claimed meeting Garth was "life changing," described Eric as "one of the best songwriters of all time," and wrote that Chris has "a sound that can’t be beat.”
But when it came time for her to share some thoughts on Carrie, the only female artist nominated for the award this year, her tone changed.
“Carrie- The Entertainer Of The Year. Because... Currently being on tour with all female artists, I’ve been thinking a lot about all the work that goes into what we do," she wrote. "...@carrieunderwood is on an all female tour too. The Cry Pretty Tour 360. She put out her first single in 2005 and from then on country music was changed for good. That iconic voice has been classin’ up our stages, charts and televisions for a decade and a half.
Miranda continued, "The Voice. The legs. The songs. The brand. The mom. The wife. The okie. The Jesus lover. The blonde bombshell that is Carrie. She blows me away every time I hear her sing. She never wavers in who she is or what she stands for. She has stayed true & pushed herself to be better."
Miranda concluded by reminding Carrie that she'll "always have her back."
"...For the sake of sequins, spanx and spray tans, take it home!" the post finished. "You Carrie the torch!"
As if it weren't sentimental enough, what made Miranda's words even more special is the fact that she and Carrie are technically still "competitors" at the 2019 show: The two singers are both nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year.
What's more, the Country Music Association announced back in August that Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton will join Carrie as co-hosts this year in an effort to celebrate "the legacy of women within country music."
Here's to an awards season filled with more moments like these!
