Mini Uggs Have Turned Out to Be a Major Winter Trend—And We Found a Dupe for Just $60
In completely unsurprising news (at least, unsurprising for 2020) one of the biggest footwear trends for winter is UGG boots. Specifically, the new Classic Ultra Mini Boots ($140). This short-stack take on the original UGG style that took the world by storm back in the early aughts has already been spotted on celebs like Emily Ratajkowski, Joan Smalls and Sarah Hyland and have been selling out left and right since August. Blame it on that impossibly soft shearling lining or a nostalgic longing for years gone by, but either way, UGGs are back.
Unfortunately, we’ve been hard pressed to find the Classic Ultra Minis on sale anywhere for Cyber Monday, but we did manage to find an almost identical bootie for less than $100. Oh, and it’s also sale. Score!
The Koola Mini II boots, which are made by Koolaburra by UGG, an offshoot of the Australian brand, typically retail for $85, but as part of Zappos’s Cyber Monday sale you can snap up a pair for just 59 bucks. While multiple reviewers across Zappos and DSW (where they’re also on sale) found the cushy lining to be almost indistinguishable from UGG’s signature shearling, the Koolaburra style is actually made from faux fur. The upper is genuine suede, much like the more expensive UGG styles, but doesn’t come pre-treated for weather resistance.
The Koolaburra minis come in six lush colors (classic chestnut, black, navy, gray, dusty rose and burgundy), and the shorter shaft gives them less of a moon boot feel than the original cut. And while they’re still not exactly podiatrist-approved, we can’t help but love these soft easy booties for quick trips to the store or to keep our toes extra toasty during those cold winter months.
