Miley Cyrus ends red carpet ban to accompany Liam Hemsworth to 'Thor: Ragnarok' premiere
Love can make people change their minds about things — just ask Miley Cyrus.
Just over a year ago, the singer announced she had walked her last red carpet ever, but time — and love — has led to her changing her mind. On Tuesday, she stepped out with Liam Hemsworth for the premiere of Thor: Ragnarok, in which his brother Chris Hemsworth is the star. They were all adorable, with Miley resting her head against the shoulder of her actor beau.
It was the first time the couple walked a red carpet together since they attended the premiere of Liam’s flick Paranoia in August 2013. Just days later, they ended their engagement, but they coupled up again in 2016.
Miley has been everywhere recently — from a weeklong stint on the Tonight Show to putting together an all-female team on The Voice — so it only makes sense to include red carpets. However, one year ago she announced her red carpet ban, which she said had actually started a year earlier.
“[A year ago] I had to do the [A Very Murray Christmas] premiere, and I will never do a red carpet again,” she told Elle in September 2016. “Why, when people are starving, am I on a carpet that’s red? Because I’m ‘important’? Because I’m ‘famous’? That’s not how I roll. It’s like a skit — it’s like Zoolander.”
After that interview, there were headlines far and wide about how Miley had walked her last red carpet ever. Though it was more like her last red carpet for a while because stepping out to support her future brother-in-law was clearly a priority.
In fact, last night’s premiere brought out the entire Hemsworth gang. Chris was accompanied by his wife, model Elsa Pataky, while Luke brought his permanent plus-one, wife Samantha Hemsworth. And the brothers’ parents were there as well, making it a true family affair.
So will Miley join the Mrs. Hemsworth club any time soon? Chris wouldn’t give up any details on the red carpet last night. Asked by E! News about his brother Liam’s relationship status, Chris replied, “I don’t know if they’re engaged,” adding, “It’s nice to have them together.”
Clearly Miley and Liam were feeling the same way last night: just happy to be together, whether they were on a red carpet or not.
