Mifflinburg to celebrate 4th of July on Thursday with festival, fireworks, more
Jul. 1—MIFFLINBURG — Mifflinburg Mayor David Cooney said the public is welcome to attend Mifflinburg's 52nd annual July 4 celebration on Thursday.
The event, hosted by the Fourth of July Committee and the Mifflinburg Heritage & Revitalization Association, kicks off at 8 a.m. at the Community Park along Fifth Street. The night concludes with a fireworks show at 9:45 p.m.
Cooney "cordially invited" residents from the area, but especially New Berlin. The annual July 4 celebration at the Commons in New Berlin was canceled due to the costs and lack of volunteers.
"It's a wonderful wholesome tradition in Mifflinburg," Cooney said. "The locals have done it forever. We have a great crowd every year. Everyone brings their friends and family to experience the Americana and celebration. It spans the entire day when the race starts to the fireworks at night. There's something great happening all the time."
The 40th annual 5K race kicks off the event at 8 a.m. Racers can register online or on race day from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. To register ahead of time, visit https://runsignup.com/race/pa/mifflinburg/mifflinburg5k.
