Michelle Tanner Might Have Been Killed Off On 'Fuller House' And I'm Shook
Fuller House season 5 may have hinted at a dark fate for Michelle Tanner, according to Screen Rant.
The original Full House character, previously played by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, hasn’t made an appearance in the Netflix reboot, but the series has referenced her whereabouts.
The first half of Fuller House season 5 was released on December 6.
After part one of Fuller House season 5 was released in early December, a dark theory about Michelle Tanner emerged and began spreading around the internet.
Though the character was famously played by twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen in the hit ‘90s sitcom Full House, the youngest Tanner daughter hasn’t appeared once throughout the reboot’s five seasons. Now, thanks to a theory Screen Rant threw out, some folks are worried that Fuller House writers have taken matters into their own hands with an unexpected, heartbreaking plot twist: Michelle is actually dead.
The theory is rooted in a heartfelt scene played out between Danny (Bob Saget), Kimmy (Andrea Barber), D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure), and Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) in the last episode of part one of Fuller House season 5. Giving Kimmy a hug, Danny goes, “You know, it’s so nice to have three daughters again."
Assuming the worst, the website cited the line as a sign that something terrible happened to Danny's youngest daughter. As Screen Rant goes on to point out, if you take the line literally, it could imply that Michelle is dead.
If we had to guess though, this is probably not what the writers intended. As viewers of the show know, Fuller House has referenced Michelle’s whereabouts before, like in season 1 when Danny explained that she was busy running a "fashion empire" in New York. One season later, D.J. shared that she wished her sister could have joined their family Thanksgiving dinner. This prompted Uncle Jesse (John Stamos) to break the fourth wall by looking directly at the camera and extend an invite to the Olsen twins. “Come, it’ll be fun,” he joked.
These references aside, the original cast has long tried to convince the Olsen twins to rejoin their TV family. Much to their disappointment though, it looks like Mary-Kate and Ashley have declined, meaning they will definitely not be returning to reprise their iconic role.
"No, I've been telling you about this since season 1," Candace told People. “You guys can hang on. Have hope! I know the answer. I've given up. I mean, it's not even giving up. I've just let that go a while ago."
At this point, it'd probably be best for fans to follow Candace's example and simply move on.
