Megyn Kelly slams Samantha Bee's 'disgusting' attack on Ivanka Trump
It’s been quite the week for name-calling — and Megyn Kelly is fed up.
The talk show host has taken to Twitter to denounce Wednesday night’s episode of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, in which Bee called Ivanka Trump a “feckless c***” who needed to “do something” about President Trump’s immigration policies.
“He listens to you,” she told the president’s daughter, who received backlash for posting a photo of her son as news about undocumented migrants being separated from their own children broke. “Put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to f***ing stop it. Tell him it was an Obama thing, and see how it goes, OK?”
Bee’s strongly worded message for Trump has been met with both cheers and jeers, with some applauding her for standing up to the White House while others have objected to her language, calling it unacceptable and denigrating to women.
Conservative critics like Matt Walsh and Herman Cain, meanwhile, have also expressed outrage over her comments, comparing her words to the racist tweet that got Roseanne Barr fired from ABC. Many called on TBS, which airs Full Frontal, to cancel the show.
Kelly, the former Fox News personality who now hosts Megyn Kelly Today on NBC, was among those drawing comparisons between Bee and media coverage of Barr. She called Bee’s insults “disgusting” and suggested that it was hypocritical to denounce Barr while cheering on Bee.
This is disgusting. How is this acceptable? And how are we expected to take any of these publications seriously if they gleefully repost something like this at the same time they (rightfully) condemn @therealroseanne? You know the saying Love is Love? Well Hate is Hate. https://t.co/YTjmZQ4zMV

Though several commenters agreed with Kelly, others defended Bee by arguing that she was attacking Trump because of her actions, not her race. Some brought up Kelly’s own controversial statements.
"Listen, the girl was no saint either. He had told her to leave, and she continued to linger." – You, discussing a 14 year old victim of police brutality, but yes, love is love, go off. https://t.co/dWtTkSjqCw

“I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night. It was inappropriate and inexcusable,” Bee said in a statement via TBS. “I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.”
