After enjoying a private date night this weekend, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have returned to the spotlight for a very important occasion. The royal couple attended a reception at Buckingham Palace, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Prince Charles's investiture as the Prince of Wales-a title bestowed upon the the eldest son of the U.K.'s reigning monarch.

For her part, Meghan arrived wearing an Amanda Wakely cream coat over what appeared to be a metallic brocade dress. She finished off the look with Paul Andrew nude heels and a loose bun.

Along with Meghan and Prince Harry, Queen Elizabeth hosted several other royal family members at Buckingham Palace for the event. Charles's wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, was in attendance, as was Princess Anne, Queen Elizabeth, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. All of them, predictably, looked stunning.

Having reached the half-century mark with the title, Charles is the longest-serving Prince of Wales in U.K. history. In other words, no heir apparent has waited so long to assume the throne. This isn't all that surprising, given that Queen Elizabeth became the longest-reigning monarch in British history in 2015.

However, Charles isn't necessarily cut up about his extended waiting period. "Charles figured out a very long time ago that he was going to be Prince of Wales for a very long time," a source told Vanity Fair this past November. "He planned his life accordingly, and he wouldn’t have been able to accomplish half of what he has if he had become King earlier."
