Meghan Markle Returns to Her Hollywood Roots

A major factor in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to step away from their senior royal roles was their ability to choose and execute their own projects independently, without the approval of Buckingham Palace.
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic certainly put a pause on some of the Sussexes' plans, including the launch of their non-profit Archewell, but a few details have started to come out about what's next for the royal duo.
This week, Variety reported that Harry and Meghan have been pitching a "top secret project" around Hollywood.
Citing "sources," the publication notes that the Sussexes took meetings with networks in June, but it's still unknown "if the pitch is supposed to be for a scripted or unscripted TV series, or something else." Other details are still entirely under wraps.
It's easy to jump to the conclusion that these type of meetings suggest a return to acting for the Duchess, who starred in the popular USA drama Suits for years before meeting Prince Harry, but Variety asserts that Meghan would be behind-the-scenes in this particular venture.
"A source close to Markle tells Variety that the former royal has absolutely no plans to act, and therefore, she will not be acting in the project that was pitched," reports writer Elizabeth Wagmeister.
Regardless of this pitch's concept, it wouldn't be the Sussexes first entertainment-related project. Earlier this year, Meghan did the voiceover for a Disney film about elephants. (Her fee was donated the charity.) Prince Harry and Oprah are also working on a mental health-related series for AppleTV+.
