What Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and Archie's Thanksgiving Might Look Like
Earlier this month, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle began a break from their royal responsibilities. The couple are planning to spend this period enjoying "some much-needed family time," per a source for the Sunday Times—and that reportedly includes getting together with Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, to celebrate Thanksgiving.
It's Meghan, Harry, and Archie are reportedly spending time in both the U.K. and U.S. during their break, and the Times has it that they'll be stateside on Thanksgiving day. Doria lives in Los Angeles, and it's possible that the family's festivities will take place there.
As this will be a private celebration, it's unlikely that royal watchers will get the inside scoop on their Thanksgiving plans. But back before she was a Duchess, Meghan posted on her since-deleted Instagram account about her secret to cooking a great turkey.
Alongside the photo of the dish, she wrote, "Oh, that time I roasted a pretty perfect Thanksgiving turkey! The question is, can I do it again? The pressure is on!" Meghan added that brining—a method that calls for submerging the bird in a mixture of salt, water, and herbs for hours—had made all the difference.
And on her now-defunct blog, the Tig, pre-royal Meghan shared that Doria likes to use Thanksgiving as an opportunity to give back. "Both my parents came from little, so they made a choice to give a lot," she explained in a 2016 post, "buying turkeys for homeless shelters at Thanksgiving, delivering meals to patients in hospice care, donating any spare change in their pocket to those asking for it, and performing quiet acts of grace."
