Meghan Markle Just Made a Secret Trip to Chicago
Even royals are required to go through the proper immigration channels. Meghan Markle reportedly made a secret trip back to Chicago this week to finalize her U.K. visa application.
Sources told the Chicago Tribune that "Markle landed at the airport at 11:30 a.m. Thursday," wearing a White Sox cap. She will reportedly be heading back to the U.K. on Sunday.
The Tribune also reports that "Chicago police provided physical security for her but not an actual escort."
At this point it's unclear if Markle has any other plans while in the Windy City, or if she will visit her alma mater, Northwestern, while in the area.
Shortly following the engagement, Prince Harry's communications secretary said Markle would be "compliant with immigration requirements at all times."
"I can also say she intends to become a UK citizen and will go through the process of that, which some of you may know takes a number of years," he continued. At this point it's unclear if she will retain her U.S. citizenship as well.
Markle and Prince Harry will wed on May 19 at Windsor Castle.
