  • Prince Archie is turning four years old on the same day as his grandfather's coronation.

  • His mother, Meghan Markle, is planning a "low-key" celebration for the boy.

  • But what could a four-year-old prince get as a gift this birthday? Our writer has very poorly attempted to guess.

Prince Harry will be attending the upcoming coronation of his father, King Charles III, but the royal-turned-best-selling author will be flying solo for the ceremony, with his wife and children staying behind in America.

And no, it's not because of any perceived slight or other drama, regardless of what some might suggest. Instead, while the rest of the world will be throwing parties celebrating the coronation, Meghan Markle will be throwing a party celebrating her son Archie's 4th birthday.

That's right: Unfortunately, the fourth birthday of Prince Harry's first son falls on the sixth day of May, the same day Prince Harry, fifth in line for the throne, must visit Westminster Abbey for the 40th coronation to occur there in the last 900 years: that of his father.

PEOPLE notes that Meghan's party for Archie will likely be a low-key affair, an intimate gathering of friends and family. That's also how it's been in the past, with the famously (or perhaps infamously) private couple opting simply for a social media post and some charity advocacy in terms of public-facing celebrations. Archie's first birthday, for example, was commemorated with a video of Archie being read to, to promote Save the Children's #SaveWithStories campaign, "launched to help kids adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic."

Archie's cousin, Prince Louis, recently turned five, and we know that he received a pickleball set and an outdoor obstacle course. Which raises the question: "What will Archie get for his fourth birthday?"

Ah, good question. The author of this article has been tasked with shifting from straight reporting to speculating on what Archie can expect beneath the colorful wrapping paper and bows come May 6.

Which is, if we're being totally honest, an absolutely terrible decision. Because speaking as "the author of this article," I have ... no idea what kids these days like. Truly, I'm like that clip from The Birthday Boys making the rounds on Twitter when it comes to my understanding of kids today. I don't have them, I don't have many friends who have them, and when those that do invite me to some birthday party packed with little ones, I'm more desperate to get out of it than James Marsden in Jury Duty.

But the job is, "Guess what Archie could get for his fourth birthday," so guess I shall.

I've heard ads for this thing called Roblox on some podcasts I listen to. Apparently that's big with the kids. Is that ... like ... building blocks on a computer? Apparently they sell gift cards for that, which ... I mean, back in my day, when you bought a video game, you only had to pay for it once, not these damned micro-transactions all the time.

Actually, there's the ticket! "Back in my day," there we go. I was four years old once. Things probably haven't changed that much in 30 years. Prince Archie is probably getting the exact same things I got when I turned four.

So you heard it here first, folks: Prince Archie is likely getting, for his birthday, some Power Rangers, a copy of Earthworm Jim for the SEGA Genesis, and that X-Men Danger Room playset where Cyclops could, like, knock down walls and stuff.

Look, that's my best guess. And that's all I can do here, is guess. It's not like we've got some thorough guide of things to buy a 4-year-old boy in 2023 for me to reference.

Oh, we do? 30+ Gifts for 4-Year-Old Boys That Are As Creative As They Are? Oh, then ... yeah, then Archie's probably getting something like the things on there then. Cool. Case closed. Journalism for the win.
