Meghan Markle Celebrates a Royal Milestone with Not 1, but 2 Rewears
The British royal family pulled out all of the sartorial stops for Prince Charles’s 50th anniversary of his ordination as the Prince of Wales today at Buckingham Palace.
Kate Middleton wore a mint high-neck dress from her private dress maker (!), Prince Charles and Queen Elizabeth twinned in purple Dalmatian-print polka dots, and Meghan Markle positively dazzled. The 37-year-old pregnant Duchess of Sussex stunned at the royal engagement in a mixed-metallic brocade shift reminiscent of Jackie O.
She accented the metal-toned frock with a rose gold Wilbur and Gussie silk “Charlie” clutch ($269), which she previously brought to a memorial service honoring Stephen Lawrence in April 2018. The duchess also donned nude cap-toe Paul Andrew pumps (available in black, $695) and simple yet elegant Maison Birks “Plaisirs de Birks” gold bar earrings ($375). She topped the regal look with a cream Amanda Wakeley coat ($1,190) that she previously wore in March 2018 at her first official event with Queen Elizabeth to celebrate Commonwealth Day at Westminster Abbey in London.
In keeping with her ladylike ensemble, the duchess sported her new go-to polished chignon. Markle’s favorite new hairstyle made its debut in late January, but we couldn’t help but notice it bears a striking resemblance to her Suits character Rachel Zane’s ill-fated wedding ’do.
Prince Harry stood by her side at the event, drinking a water in solidarity with his wife, who is set to give birth to their first child in late April.
One thing’s for sure, pregnant or not, Meghan Markle knows how to put together an outfit.
