Meghan Called Harry "My Prince" in Her Toast
Royal brides typically don't give a toast at their wedding reception, but Meghan Markle, in her tradition breakin' ways, decided she was going to.
She was the first person to get up and speak at the informal evening dinner (which was part three of the royal wedding bonanza), royal expert Katie Nicholls told Entertainment Tonight.
"This was a real breach of tradition. Usually the bride doesn't talk. It is, of course, the father of the bride, but seeing there was no Thomas Markle, Meghan decided that she would speak," Nicholl said.
Which is super cool! But then... things took a basic turn. "When it came to her new husband, Harry, she said, 'I finally found my prince,'" Nicholl said. "It was very romantic and very sweet."
It's not like she's wrong or anything. He is a prince, and they are married, so calling him "my prince" doesn't necessarily feel inaccurate but, it's just... kinda cliche? Like, how original is it to call a literal prince your prince charming? This idea should have died with hair scrunchies (don't @ me).
While she was at it, Meghan gave a huge shoutout to the royal family for being so welcoming to her, and apparently threw subtle shade at her dad. Remember, he didn't attend her wedding because of heart surgery.
"I do know that she thanked her mother, not just for being there today, but for being there for her entire life," Nicholl said. "And I'm not sure what she said, if anything, about Thomas Markle." 😬😬😬
