This week we are featuring Monty and Carlo from the Pequannock Animal Shelter.
Monty and Carlo
In July of 2023, the Pequannock Animal Shelter was made aware of a local hoarding situation.
Over the course of several weeks, the shelter took in over 30 cats and kittens from the hoarding situation, with a few kittens being born at a shelter. This stretched the shelter to full capacity as there were already about a dozen cats residing there. With the hard work of staff and volunteers, the cats were all given the necessary medical care and were situated so they could be socialized and eventually adopted.
Since then, most of the 30 cats have been adopted except for seven of them including Monty and Carlo.
Monty and Carlo are brothers that are estimated to be between 3 and 5 years old. While they are not lap cats, they do like to be involved in everything that goes on and they are always supervising the volunteers. Cute and funny boys, they have both been neutered and are up to date on shots and medical care.
Strangely enough, there has not been much interest in these two handsome gray gentlemen. One of the shelter's volunteers, who drives a classic Monte Carlo, has offered to cover the adoption fees for an approved adopter!
Monty and Carlo are not bonded, and they do not have to be adopted together. They are cat friendly, both love treats, and Carlo likes to play when nobody is watching.
