Meet Kane Brown's Wife Katelyn Brown
Katelyn Brown's music management degree comes in handy.
Before Kane Brown became one of country's biggest solo artists, some industry insiders wanted to make him into a pop icon a la Justin Bieber. After Brown was an X Factor contestant in 2013, producers were eager to put him in a boy band, even though what he really wanted was wanted a solo career. Turns out, posting his own songs and videos online on his own did the trick, and today, a lot of fans not only love listening to Brown's singles; they also wish they could be Kane Brown’s wife, Katelyn Jae Brown.
Brown's winning ticket was a track he made at a friend’s house, “Used to Love You Sober.” He shared it to Facebook in 2015 and got 15 million views. The app iTunes was next; the song did 100K in sales and topped the iTunes country chart. He signed with Sony Music Nashville less than six months later.
“We use two words here a lot when we’re looking at artists and listening to music... ‘Is it unique? Is it compelling?’” Randy Goodman, chairman and CEO at Sony Music Nashville, said in 2016. “Just the fact that he’s biracial and he’s tatted up and he’s got piercings—that makes it completely unique."
Growing up wasn’t easy for Brown. He was raised in Georgia by his single mom, sometimes staying in their car when they didn’t have a place to sleep. He credits his mother with keeping him out of trouble, and to this day, she's his biggest role model. As he told a fan in 2016 on Twitter, "My mom used to sing to me growing up, and I just wanted to follow in her footsteps."
Part of following in her footsteps means keeping his feet on the ground. Says his other half, wife Katelyn Jae Brown, “Kane’s so humble and we’re super normal. When we leave the house, we just go to our usual stores and the same restaurants that we’ve always loved to go to."
Brown's single, “Leave You Alone,” is undoubtedly about the woman he’s deeply in love with. Keep reading to find out how Kane Brown and his wife Katelyn Brown met, why they're working together on a song, the sweet way they celebrate their daughters' births and more.
Who is Kane Brown’s wife?
Katelyn Brown is a Philly girl. She’s 30 years old (b. June 19, 1992) and is a singer-songwriter in her own right; before deciding to get her college degree, she recorded songs like "Perfect" and "24KT."
“I feel like that’s the reason why I felt held back and things weren’t progressing,” Katelyn Jae once shared with her college magazine. “I told my mom, ‘I don’t want people to tell me what to do and I don’t have the knowledge to back up my decision or to argue what I feel is right.’ So I wanted to know the business side.”
She took online classes at Berklee College of Music, graduating in 2019 with a music management degree. “I started realizing that the things I was learning in school were what he was dealing with in real life. So if Kane came home and he had a question I’d often be like, ‘You know, you don’t have to do that, right? They’re just telling you you have to do that. You’re the artist, and you can do whatever you want to do,’” she recalled.
“Finishing my education was the most rewarding thing I have done for myself thus far,” she said on Instagram in May 2019. “If you are thinking whether or not your going to get your degree or if you can get through the years of college... DO IT!”
What does Kane Brown’s wife do for a living?
“I fell in love with the business side and my husband and I talk a lot about starting our own label or publishing company,” Katelyn Jae says. “But then I also have this extreme creative side of me that loves to write, who loves to sing.” (In 2021, Brown launched his own label in connection with Sony Nashville; no word if Katelyn is involved.)
Does that mean we’ll see music from her? Probably not on a big scale. “Honestly, I don’t think I’ll go back to performing. If I get back into music, it’ll be working in the studio and writing. I’ll leave the performing part to Kane!” she told Taylor Magazine in late 2019. Kately has appeared in Brown’s video for “Weekend,” Good as You,” and a few others.
Can Kane Brown’s wife sing?
Yes she can! Back in 2020, Kane jokingly said “she’s my secret weapon that I’m waiting to unleash.” He wasn't kidding. The married couple released their first duet, "Thank God" in 2023 and took home the top award for Video of the Year at the 2023 CMT Awards. Kane and Katelyn Brown performed their duet live on the show.
"It means the world to me," Brown said before their performance. "I mean, she sings every night. We have a big setup in our home, and she's always singing. Honestly, she loves singing more than I do. For me to just be able to give her this opportunity and her come out, and hopefully, us have more songs in the future, is really cool."
When did Kane Brown meet his wife?
Actually, he was supposed to be in one of her music videos a year before they met—but he couldn’t, because he was having his very first show. They finally met in person for the first time a year later, in 2016, when a colleague they were both working with brought Katelyn Jae to one of Brown’s shows. “She didn’t want to come and he forced her basically," Brown once recalled. "We met, we didn’t talk at all, I maybe said ‘hey’ to her—but I thought she was adorable, looking at her all night.”

So he did what any young guy would do: slid into her DMs. "The first time I saw her, it was the shy giddiness," Brown told Taste of Country Nights. "I didn't know what was going to happen. She lived in Orlando [and] I was in Miami." He continued, "I messaged her on Instagram the next night and said, 'Hey, when are we going to hang out?' and flew her down," Brown shared, "and she hasn't left since." Their first date? Topgolf.
What did they like about each other? “She’s a sweet girl…. You know, being on the road, we did 200 shows in 2016. You get lonely,” he said later. “Whenever she’s out with me, I just have a good time. And she makes me happy. I’m never depressed when she’s around me.”
As for Katelyn, she once said of Brown, “He is so cool. He isn’t trying to be anything else other than himself. He’s constantly on the road and doing shows, and he does it with so much grace and stays true to himself."
He finally proposed on Easter Sunday in 2017–while watching The Amityville Horror (a horror movie about a newly married couple who move into a home where terrible crimes were committed). Brown knows it was “weird,” but he “couldn’t wait” for the next day, when he’d planned “rose petals and everything like that.”
Two days later, he announced the news publicly during a concert. "It’s hard to do this job—you know, there’s girls involved—you’ve got to stay out of trouble, it’s really hard," Brown said in the middle of his show. "I just got engaged to a girl from Philadelphia two days ago. This is my first time making this announcement, but we’re in Philly, so I thought I had to go ahead and make the announcement. So thank you, Philadelphia.”
When did Kane Brown get married?
Brown never thought marriage would change much. “Basically we’re already married,” he told PEOPLE in 2017. “We just need the paperwork!” Still, the two married at Mint Springs Farm in Franklin, Tennessee, on Oct. 12, 2018. "We wanted something here in Nashville and loved the idea of having it at home and not traveling since we are on the road so much," the two said in a statement. There were about 200 friends and family there. "I don't have so many friends... I have my friends that I know have been there for me, and then I've got some new friends that I've made, artist-wise,” Brown said at the time.
Instead of personal vows, the couple wrote each other letters that they exchanged earlier that day. For the event, Brown wore a midnight blue Lanvin suit and his bride appeared in a “simple, comfortable and understated–with a kick” sleeveless white gown. They served barbecue chicken and salmon, according to PEOPLE—and got their wedding pictures six months later, according to Brown. Brown got a tattoo of his wife’s name on his right hand soon after, and shared clips in his video for the song “Good as You.”
Did Kane Brown marry Lauren Alaina?
In 2018 at the ACM awards, Brown and Lauren Alaina performed their song “What Ifs?” and people on social media immediately wanted to know if they were dating each other. They got a little too close at the end of their performance, but it turns out that producers just wanted to rile up the audience.
Alaina even had to warn her own boyfriend before the performance. "Part of our job as entertainers is to entertain and perform and take on the roles of two people who were supposed to be asking, 'what if?’,” Alaina told Taste of Country. Producers asked the two singers to get really close to each other, and “it was a little weird, because I'm in a very committed relationship that will be six years in October and Kane is engaged to be married," she said at the time. She added that her man Alex Hopkins and Katelyn were OK with it though: “I mean, Alex is so great and Katelyn is great, too. We both have really good people supporting us."
Why did Kane Brown’s wife hide her second pregnancy?
Before having their first child, Brown sent a picture to his brother, who posted on social media about it before the couple announced the news. "So everybody already knew about it, and it was kind of upsetting," Brown said. Their first daughter, Kingsley Rose, arrived in October 2019. She makes a cameo appearance in the closing shot of the Worldwide Beautiful video. Brown also wrote the song “For My Daughter” for her.
However, when it came to their second pregnancy, Brown and his wife were determined to keep things quiet. They didn’t say a word to the public, and their daughter Kodi Jane was born in December of 2021. “Choosing to keep my pregnancy quiet was the best decision I've ever made,” Katelyn said at the time. “Soaking in special moments with my daughter and husband without the influence of social media and outside world made this time that much more intimate and unforgettable.”

Does Kane Brown have children?
Because Brown’s own dad was largely absent from his life, he’s adamant about being involved with his children, and so far, so good! “It’s been amazing,” he shared with Sounds Like Nashville after Kingsley was born. “I told myself I was gonna be the best dad I could be, and so far it’s been pretty easy. It’s just been me and Kate, her mom, and Kingsley. … I’m just ready for her to walk. And then I’m in a whole new stage of dad-hood.”
Even before they had their kids, Katelyn was seeing the kind of father Brown would become. “I also think back to my relationship with Kane and how we didn’t think we could become any closer, I feel like now we have this little girl that’s half of me and half of him. He’s so protective already and we’re naturally becoming parents,” she said before Kingsley’s birth.
Brown has said how much his oldest daughter improved his life. “I know when I get home and I'm exhausted, just holding her makes my day completely better," Brown shared with PEOPLE in March 2021. "I have learned to be patient, and I've also learned that there's true love. And if anybody ever got between me and my daughter, I don't know what would go on."
The couple adores how parenthood has changed the other. "Kate's been a great mom and a huge backbone for me if I have to go to the studio or if I go to a writing session," he says. "There's never anything that she can't handle. She never hits me up and says, 'Hey you have to leave your write early because I have to do this.' She's just there, so she's awesome."
"I am so grateful and blessed to be these little girls' mama and cannot wait to raise strong, confident, sweet little ladies with you [Kane Brown]," Katelyn said after Kodi’s birth. "You are the man we all look up to."
The couple has made a habit out of getting tattoos for their children; both Kingsley and Kodi have their own ink on their parents’ bodies.
How does Kane Brown make his marriage work?
“We prioritize time together and make sure to have as much normalcy as possible with date nights and nights at home with our dogs,” the two shared with People before they were married. “And we have a great appreciation for each other and respect each of our careers and time to do their thing as well. We love each other but are also friends—it’s so important to have that balance.”
