The Meaning Behind Kate Middleton and Prince William's Zoom Name

Kate Middleton and Prince William made their first public Zoom appearance this week — and you may have noticed they have a Zoom username that isn't just "Kate" or "William."

On Wednesday, they shared footage from a video chat engagement they had with the students, teachers, and staff at Casterton Primary Academy in Lancashire, and if you looked closely, you could see the username "DOC" on the corner of their screen.

As Town & Country theorized, "DOC" is likely an abbreviation for "Duke/Duchess of Cambridge."

Other things to note? The Cambridges have already perfected their casual Zoom outfits, with William opting for a blue shirt with the top buttons undone and Kate wearing a laidback-but-polished yellow sweater.

During their video chat, they thanked teachers and staff, who are looking after kids as their parents work at a nearby hospital.

"To you and everyone who is in during this time, it must be such a relief for all the parents who are key workers to know that their children have the normality and structure and they've got a safe place for them to be," Kate said on the call. "So, really, really well done and for all of you I know it's not easy circumstances, but it's fantastic."

Also during the call, Kate playfully ribbed William for hogging their family's Easter chocolate supply, joking, "You keep eating it!"

Kate and William are reportedly self-isolating at their Norfolk home with their children, and may be homeschooling Prince George and Princess Charlotte after U.K. schools have shut down as a precaution against the coronavirus.
