McDonald's Makes a Major Announcement About Chain's Popular Value Meal
Good news for lovers of fast food deals! McDonald's has once again decided to extend its popular $5 Meal Deal, this time into December.
When the fast food chain launched the value meal in late June, it was initially slated to stick around for only four weeks, to the disappointment of many value-minded customers. The deal includes a choice of a McChicken or a McDouble with a four-piece Chicken McNuggets, a small French fries, and beverage. However, after it debuted to widespread popularity, McDonald's decided in July to keep it going through August.
According to CNBC, franchisees have been voting on whether to extend the value meal beyond August, with about 80 percent of local markets opting in. However, the votes are still being cast, so it's possible that additional locations may likewise be added going forward.
"Together with our franchisees, we’re committed to keeping our prices as affordable as possible, which is why we’re doubling down with even more ways to save," McDonald's U.S. President Joe Erlinger said in a statement.
McDonald's introduced the meal deal as many fast food chains are clamoring to lure inflation-weary customers back into restaurants with value promotions. And suffice to say, the strategy has paid off. A study published back in July found that on June 25, the day the promotion launched, the chain saw its busiest day of the year, bringing in eight percent more visits than an average Tuesday, year-to-date.
In addition to the $5 Meal Deal, McDonald's has plans to offer additional local promotions in the coming weeks and months. To access the deals, customers can simply use the McDonald’s mobile app.
