McDonald’s began serving breakfast over 50 years ago, testing a Continental Breakfast in 1971. Their initial breakfast included the Egg McMuffin, a sandwich designed by California franchisee Herb Peterson as an “Eggs Benedict on the go,” according to a McDonald’s infographic shared by Foodbeast.
The fast food restaurant’s first national breakfast menu was rolled out in 1977, and it included the Egg McMuffin, hotcakes, toasted English muffin, scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns and Danish, according to the infographic. By 1986, one out of every four breakfasts served outside the home came from McDonald’s.
The All Day Breakfast launched in 2015, but since then McDonald's breakfast hours have adjusted.
What Time Does McDonald’s Stop Serving Breakfast?
"Breakfast hours will vary based on restaurant location. Some breakfast hours may also vary across weekdays vs. weekends," the company told Parade in an email.
At many McDonald's locations, breakfast is served between the hours of 4 a.m. and 11 a.m. every day.

What Happened to McDonald’s All Day Breakfast?
McDonald’s launched All Day Breakfast in 2015 but halted it, at least temporarily, in March 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic.
“We initially removed All Day Breakfast from the menu to simplify operations in our kitchens, which we saw provided better speed of service and order accuracy for our customers,” the company tweeted in July 2020. “We're evaluating if and how we will bring All Day Breakfast back to our menus.”

Is McDonald’s All Day Breakfast Coming Back?
The company hasn't announced any plans regarding the return of All Day Breakfast to all Mickey D's locations, but, as of 2021, you can find it at some participating locations, according to the company.
"As McDonald’s and franchisees evaluate if and how we make some of our customers’ favorite breakfast menu items more available throughout the day, any decision will be made in partnership with our franchisees, based on consumer demand, and designed to drive the business while minimizing operational disruptions," the company told Parade.
What Can You Find on the McDonald's Breakfast Menu?
The McDonald's breakfast menu includes classics like the Egg McMuffin, Sausage McMuffin and the Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit. The fast-food chain also offers breakfast combos, including Hotcakes and the Big Breakfast with Hotcakes. The menu also includes the Sausage Burrito and Fruit & Maple Oatmeal.
