Will Matt James Be a Good Bachelor? Mike Johnson Weighs in
Mike Johnson is getting candid about what he really thinks of Matt James becoming the first Black Bachelor.
PureWow recently sat down for an exclusive interview with the Bachelor Nation alum, who is preparing to release his debut book, Making the Love You Want, on October 2. While discussing season 25 of The Bachelor, Johnson revealed that he couldn’t be more thrilled for James.
“He’s an awesome guy. He has a great smile and even better personality,” he told PureWow. “I should take advice from him. You know, it’s his first time, and he’s already gotten the big role. I think I can learn a lot.”
James was originally supposed to appear on Clare Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette, but it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Despite the last-minute switcheroo, Johnson fully supports James as the lead.
“He’s never been in love before, I know that for a fact,” he continued. “So, I feel like this will be a great opportunity for him to finally experience that.”
Johnson also shared advice for the contestants, who should steer clear of drama and focus on their relationship with James.
“It’s simple: They shouldn’t look at themselves as if they’re on TV. They should look at themselves as if they’re trying to date someone. When there are no cameras around, how would you date that individual?” he explained. “You shouldn’t be nervous whatsoever. I do understand that it’s a crazy time for them, but they have to just zone in on what they need to do.”
May the odds be ever in your favor, ladies.
