Marvel’s New Daredevil Series Reportedly Rebooted After Head Writers Canned
Matt Murdock in She-Hulk
Marvel’s Daredevil series was a smash hit when it premiered on Netflix in 2015. The series, which lasted for three seasons and was the first major TV project in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, ultimately got the axe on Netflix, but was recently announced to be getting rebooted on Disney+. Now, that reboot is getting rebooted again, and the show’s lead writers have reportedly been dropped.
The upcoming Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again paused production in mid-June, shortly after film and television writers and actors went on strike. According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel executives including Kevin Fiege reviewed the footage that was shot – about half the episodes – and decided it just wasn’t good enough.
The report said that, in late September, Marvel dropped head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman from the series, and is now trying to fill that role with a fresh new face. The directors signed on for the remaining episodes of the series have also reportedly been canned, and it seems like the entire production will start again from scratch.
Daredevil: Born Again is set to see the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, the titular Daredevil, after Cox previously reprised the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. It will also feature the return of Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, and a few other minor returning roles alongside a host of new cast.
