Martha Stewart’s East Hampton Home Sold for $16.5 Million

Ever the savvy businesswoman, lifestyle maven Martha Stewart is cashing in on New York's post-Covid suburban real estate boom: She recently sold her East Hampton home on Lily Pond Lane to former Huffington Post publisher Kenneth Lerer.
The house was built in the 1800s, so when Stewart bought the one-acre property in the late 1990s, she had quite a few renovations to make. Some of them included replacing the cracking plaster ceilings with beadboard, updating the outdoor garden, and removing the outdated heating system in favor of a more eco-friendly modulating gas boiler. Then there are the quirky, more whimsical additions, like the taxidermy fish she installed in the living room. The 79-year-old once said that she rarely stayed there, so this is probably one of the main reason she has finally chosen to part ways with the iconic home.
In a recent interview with Purewow, Stewart reminisced on one of her favorite parties she threw at the Lily Pond Lane in East Hampton.
“One of the best parties I ever had was on Lily Pond Lane in East Hampton, when I had just finished construction and the house was still empty—I was buying furniture rather slowly because I didn't know what I wanted in that big house." she says in the interview. "I had a great big 50th birthday party, and that was the most fun because we had fantastic South American music. We had the Cutchogue barbecue come and do the barbecue chicken. We had the Blue Parrot do the blue margaritas. It was quite a party.”
Until recently, the home's selling price was not clear, and the last documented asking price was $8.4 million. Now, we know that the estate sold for a whopping $16.5 million, according to Dirt.
Stewart currently splits her time between a 153-acre farm in Bedford, New York, and her Skylands estate, in Maine, both of which have been featured in her magazine. And Apple TV will soon release a documentary on her life—hopefully with plenty more real estate to ogle.
