Mariah Carey reveals her lavish Christmas plans — complete with real reindeer
Mariah Carey has revealed her luxurious Christmas celebrations — including a private jet to Aspen where she is welcomed by real reindeer, a two-horse open sleigh and a 19-foot tree.
The notorious diva may have sung “I don’t want a lot for Christmas” in her record-breaking hit “All I Want for Christmas is You,” but the mother of 8-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe in fact indulges in extremely lavish festivities.
Carey told Cosmopolitan UK that her celebrations start on Dec. 23 when she flies to Aspen.
She said: “When I get off the plane, our drivers have “All I Want For Christmas...” playing, we have hot cocoa and some butterscotch schnapps. Then we’ll go through the woods on a two-horse open sleigh with blankets and real reindeer. It’s freezing cold but it’s beautiful and you’re looking at the stars. It’s an incredible moment I love every year.”
And the singer — whose ex-husband Nick Cannon joins the family for Christmas — also revealed she has three trees, one of which is 19 feet tall.
Carey said: “We do a tree in the bedroom, then I do a big tree in the living room with decorations I’ve had for years and years. We also do another tree in the family room area and call that the Charlie Brown tree. It’s a sad little tree we decorate with Polaroid pictures of ourselves and draw funny stuff on it. That one has the colorful lights that are old-school. Me and the kids do the little tree downstairs together, but decorating the big tree is really hard — it’s 19 feet.”
The “When You Believe” singer admitted that Christmas Eve is one of the few days she ever goes in the kitchen, working with a sous chef to prepare traditional dishes before “Santa comes and hangs out with us” and the family takes photos by the tree.
Carey confessed she is “not an early riser” and on Christmas morning the rest of the family “waits for me to get it together” while she chooses her seasonal outfit.
She also revealed that her family always plays Taboo at Christmas, admitting that she is “pretty competitive.”
