Mama June Gives Update on Daughter's 'Very Aggressive' Cancer Battle
Mama June Shannon opened up about her daughter's cancer battle.
The Mama June: Family in Crisis star, 43, joined by her husband, Justin Stroud, sat down with Entertainment Tonight ahead of the premiere of the couple's new series, where the pair shared an update about Anna "Chickadee" Caldwell's cancer.
While speaking with the outlet, Shannon divulged the heartbreaking struggle of handling her daughter's stage 4 adrenal carcinoma diagnosis, including having hard conversations with Anna's two daughters, Kaitlyn, 10, and Kylee, 7.
"It’s very rare and very aggressive," Shannon revealed before giving an update on how her daughter has been holding up. "Just depends on what day it is," Shannon told the outlet. "She sleeps a lot. She doesn't want to eat some days."
"There’s days where I don’t know [whether] to scream, get mad, or be happy," she stated. "As her mom, we’ve had talks you don’t want to have with your child. We know what the endgame is and we are prepared for that. You're never prepared, but we know what could happen. Her children know about it, the 10-year-old more than the 7-year-old."
According to a report from TMZ, the 28-year-old was diagnosed with stage four adrenal carcinoma cancer in January. Cardwell reportedly complained about stomach aches, leading to a series of tests that found cancer in her liver, kidney, and lung.
Caldwell is due to undergo another round of chemotherapy next week and is scheduled for another scan on May 6, per ET.
Cardwell's sister, Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, discussed her sister's diagnosis days after it was announced in a now-deleted Instagram Story.
“This is what I mean when I say you never truly know what somebody is going through at home,” she wrote. “No matter how famous they are. Yes, I’m very famous, but normal s--t happens to me and my family & y’all need to realize that ASAP.”
Fans can catch up with the family on Mama June: Family in Crisis, premiering Friday on WE.
