Major US Cities Approaching 700 Days Without Snow

According to AccuWeather, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C., have gone nearly 700 days since there was one inch or more of snow on the ground, leaving snow lovers without their precious snow blowers and shovels.

Per AccuWeather, the lack of snow along the I-95 corridor could end this winter with the arrival of an ongoing El Ni?o climate pattern (last winter was a La Ni?a year). AccuWeather's reporter in this video predicts that the El Ni?o could deliver the snowy goods to New York, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. in the coming months.

But, of course, that's just a prediction. Luckily, if you're situated a bit north of these major cities (or willing to travel), winter has arrived in the mountains, a departure from last ski season, which wasn't particularly powdery. Northeast stalwarts like Killington, Vermont, and Sunday River, Maine, are happily trucking along.

That being said, nothing hits quite like a bit of snow in town, at least for those who prefer sledding over sun tanning. Here's hoping AccuWeather's call for more snow in the mid-Atlantic's lowlands comes to fruition.
