Mac Miller's Mom Is Going to the Grammys with Cazzie David
Mac Miller was posthumously nominated his first-ever Grammy Award, and his mother, Karen Meyers, will attend the awards show tonight alongside Cazzie David, who famously dated Pete Davidson.
Cazzie marked the celebration by posting a photo of Karen getting ready for the show before it officially started.
While this turn of events might give you pause, according to an E! source, Karen and Cazzie have been friends for a second. The source previously said, "It's still a relatively new friendship, and primarily limited to social media, but Cazzie and Karen think very highly of each other. Cazzie reached out to Karen with her condolences after Mac died and since then she and Karen have been exchanging messages."
That doesn't totally explain why they are going to the Grammys together, but here we are, waiting to see if Mac will be honored with the award. Mac's album is up against fellow nominees Cardi B (Invasion of Privacy), Nipsey Hussle (Victory Lap), Pusha T (Daytona), and Travis Scott (Astroworld).
Miller died of an accidental drug overdose in September 2018, just one month after Swimming was released. The Mac Miller Circles Fund, a charity created in his name, has since raised more than $700,000, TMZ reports. Approximately half of the funds came directly from a tribute concert honoring the rapper in October. The show included performances from Chance the Rapper, SZA, John Mayer, and Anderson .Paak. The charity's goal is to help youths in Miller's hometown of Pittsburgh "recognize their full potential through exploration int he arts and community building."
